The hydromonochord extends the classic structure of a monochord with a water basin. With their slots, two opposite walls of the basin form bars for a string tensioned with 1kg weights. If the string is moved (to vibrate) and touches the water surface, the water also begins to move. If the length of the plucked string outside the basin matches the length of the basin, standing waves are formed that can be made visible by water swirls. The stainless steel water basin (40cm) is stove-enamelled dark blue and mounted on a lacquered plywood board.
