Remarks on the Structure of this Booklet
The booklet you are reading is delivered with the resource sets »Geyser – without flask« and »Geyser – with flask« of the Teaching Aid Department of the organization «Bildungswerkes Beruf und Umwelt«, but it can also be purchased separately. It serves on the one hand as an instruction manual for the experiment, while on the other it contains didactic advice and points out possibilities for integrating the experiment in the physics curriculum of the ninth grade of the Waldorf School. The development of the experiment was carried out by the Pedagogical Research Centre Kassel of the Federation of Waldorf Schools. Many of the didactic tips are to be understood in the context of the phenomenological approach to instruction in Waldorf pedagogy. The following discussion assumes a familiarity with this approach, as well as with the rhythmic organization of the main lesson instruction. Discussions of the general didactic foundations of this approach can be found in Handbuch Waldorfpädagogik und Erziehungswissenschaft – Standortbestimmung und Entwicklungsperspektiven. The specialization to the case of physics didactics, focused on an example from electrical acoustics as it might be taught in the ninth grade of the Waldorf school, can be found in the publicly accessible online journal Research on Steiner Education.
